What’s been going on with you?
First off, let me say this. I am not perfect, and I am not a robot.
Now that we got that out of the way let me be quite frank with you. Ever since I packed my bags and relocated to Atlanta, the journey has not been all roses. Granted, I am grateful for this opportunity, but the process that comes along with relocating is mad real. There were a lot of endeavors that occurred in my personal life last year that I was unprepared for, but hey, that’s life, right? In the end, I was burnt out and entirely over everything. In retrospect, I had to keep going.
The highlight for me of 2018 was not only the launch of my podcast, The Beauty Suite, but it was also the entire rebranding process, changing its name from I am SohoGlam to Jennifer J. Artistry. It was an executive decision I had to make to restructure my business and to make it profitable.
In the beginning, my brand started as a beauty blog. However, with the evolution of social media and the oversaturated market of beauty bloggers, it was time to make a change. Not only am I a beauty blogger, but I am also a makeup artist, looking to build a solid clientele in Atlanta. I am an entrepreneur at heart and running a blog was not going to cut it, especially when it comes to monetizing my business. During December 2018, I went through a severe case of writer’s block. I could not come up with anything if I tried. When it came to creating content, my tank was on “E.” So, instead of trying to make something out of nothing, I decided to sit down and focus more on self-education and research.
You may notice some changes with my website and vision. My blog and podcast are still around, but the need for me to slow down on creating content is much needed as I continue to strategize all aspects of my brand. My goal is to continue to thrive in the blogging world, but more-so of transitioning into a beauty and lifestyle influencer. I love partnering with brands for campaigns and allowing my following to take apart of what I am promoting. Not only do I want to become a successful influencer, but I also want to continue practicing makeup, and providing my clients with an elite experience. However, during this time of transition, I must go back to the drawing board and focus on rebuilding. It is amazing how God will make you sit down so He can reveal new opportunities for you. 2018, I hit the ground running with a podcast launch and developing content, continuing to make a name for myself in a new city. This year, I am shifting my focus by solidifying my foundation for Jennifer J. Artistry.
Stay tuned for amazing opportunities, collaborations, and new content from me in 2019.
Thank you all for your support and riding with me during this journey.
Be great and amazing,
I don’t know about you, but since the pandemic began, I changed how I wear my makeup while wearing my mask. I am sure a lot of us can relate. We have watered down our makeup looks. Before I begin to share how I wear my makeup, let me remind you to throw away your masks! I strongly recommend wearing a disposable mask and throwing it away at the end of the day.
