Yo, yo, yo! In my blog post, Get Jay's Look: #ShaylaTaughtMe, I was going to provide a full review of my Tarteiest Contour Palette, created by MakeupShayla. So here's my review. Did I like it? Did I not like it? Was I just satisfied with the palette?
As you know, I was excited to hear that she was collaborating with Tarte Cosmetics to create a contour palette specifically for women of color. Before my purchase, I have been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit. I bought my palette online at Sephora.com, and I was able to take advantage of my VIB rewards and received 30% off - winning! Thrilled, I must admit, I was STALKING my tracking updates, lol! I was checking the status every day, every hour. Four days later, my palette arrived, and the security guard in my building thought I was crazy the way I demanded him to rush and give me my package (I apologized to him later as he understood my excitement of receiving my package).
When I opened my box, the packaging of the palette was beautiful. However, when I opened it, it was almost as it was thrown into the box as I had small crumbs of the colors scattered all over the place. I was disappointed on how it was packed. When I opened the palette, it was beautiful, and it smelled like chocolate.
Using the palette
The next day, I decided to use the palette how Shayla instructed on her YouTube video. The colors are not as pigmented, but they are buildable. The product goes on smooth, making your skin look flawless. The darkest color for contouring is too dark for my skin tone, but I did include it as a part of a transition color for my eyes. The blush is a beautiful color, but you do have to pack it on for the color to show. However, I do like the blush. I apply minimal amount for my daily routine, but when I want to be extra, I do layer it on.
My verdict
I really do love the contour palette. It is super easy to use and glides on your face smoothly. Since July, I have been solely focusing on using the contour colors because it snatches my face up entirely. I also use the highlight, but I do combine my Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit to add a little extra glow to my face. Overall, I give this palette two thumbs up, and I recommend this palette for anyone who is looking to work on contouring/highlighting their face. Again, congrats to MakeupShayla for her collaboration! I am looking forward to many more of her collaborations with cosmetic companies in the future. I am working extra hard on saving all of my coins when more products come out! I know it's coming.
Xoxo,

It's been a while since I've done any Get Jay's Look posts and it feels good to bring them back. Kicking off my 2018 makeup looks, it was only right to recreate Beyonce's makeup from her performance at Coachella.
